Preached November 1, 2026 - Morning Sermon
Text: Galatians 6:6-10
Heritage Baptist Church

Pastor Mike Stewart opens this sermon by showing that the universal principle "God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap" governs three areas of the Christian life. First, he applies it to the mutual partnership of ministry: those who are taught the Word are to communicate material support to those who teach, so that the sowing of the Word continues and both parties benefit. Second, he applies it to sanctification, warning that sowing to the flesh produces corruption while sowing to the Spirit yields life everlasting-the delay of harvest being the common place of deception. Third, he urges believers not to grow weary in well-doing, for in due season they shall reap if they faint not, especially doing good to the household of faith. The sermon closes by pointing the weary to the precious fruit of Christ's return and the sure promises of God, calling the church to cheerful partnership, ongoing resistance of the flesh, and patient perseverance in good works.
Scripture
Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
Galatians 6:6-10
Reflection Questions
- How does the principle of sowing and reaping shape our partnership with those who labor in the Word?
- Where have you seen (or risked) sowing to the flesh, and what does it mean practically to sow to the Spirit instead?
- Why is the delay between sowing and reaping a common place of deception, and how does faith in God's character keep us from mocking Him?
- What opportunities has God placed before you this week to do good, especially to the household of faith, without growing weary?
