Sermon Description

This sermon explores the profound nature of God's mercy as depicted in Psalm 103, emphasizing that His compassion is abundant, intrinsic to His character, and superior to human sin. The message highlights that God's forgiveness is complete, removing the guilt and shame of transgressions as far as the east is from the west, thereby freeing believers from the burden of past failures. It further asserts that this divine love is everlasting, extending from eternity past to eternity future and sustaining believers through every season of life. By drawing on examples from David, Peter, and Paul, the teaching illustrates that no sinner is beyond the reach of God's redeeming grace. The sermon concludes with a call to rest in this assurance, reject self-condemnation, and respond to such overwhelming mercy with wholehearted praise and worship.

Scripture

The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever. He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him. For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust. As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth. For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more. But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children.

Titus Cannon, Pastor | Heritage Baptist Church

Titus has lived in five Southern states but has gladly called Alabama home since 2005. He and his wife Cammy have 10 children. Baptized at the young age of eight, he has long had a love for the Lord. After a debilitating injury in 2012 he learned to lean on God in many ways. Through this experience, God called him to not just be a student of the Word but also a messenger of the Word. He was ordained to ministry in 2021.
